Mpeg 2 settings -- why no difference?

Hi all you beautiful techno geeks...

I am trying to build a DVD from a FCP mpeg2 file in DVD Studio Pro. It keeps building too large for my 4.7 gig DVD disk's capacity.

I took tried to make the file smaller by changing the encoder bit rate settings to 4.0 from 5.0, but it did not change the size of the output VIDEO_TS folder whatsoever. What am I doing wrong?

Downgrading the encode bit rate is one way to make the total file size smaller. Using Compressor to take the audio to AC3 is also a way to minimize file sizes.

Has a lot to do with the original size of the final Quicktime file before compression begins.

BTW- The total file size for all assets on a DVD-5 is 4.37 GB
