FCP to Motion workflow

I seem to be missing something. Have searched the forum, gone through the tutorial, and manual, and am stumped!

In FCP have highlighted in timeline the clips, sent to Motion, do not embed, made my titles, unchecked the video background, saved, went to FCP and imported Motion file, dragged from Browser to timeline on video track above the video, and rendered. But, all that is seen is black with the titles.

Am I missing a step, or checkbox somewhere?

If you just want titles with an alpha background, make sure you turn off the visibility of the FCP clips you sent to Motion. Alternatively, use the Embed function - FCP will automatically create a new sequence in your browser that contains the original clips so you don't lose them.

I posted without searching ONE OTHER tutorial that mentioned turning the background opacity to zero.
