FCP CLIPS IN MOTION

Hi,

I have some blue-screen material (uncompressed PAL 4:2:2)
that I've keyed in FCP (better matte-keys than the ones in Motion).
After I tried opening the clips directly in Motion, keys
were gone and I had the blue-screen still there. If I recall
correct, FCP filters don't apply in Motion. So, I tried the
following:

I exported the keyed / matted clips from FCP timeline using "qt movie -
make movie self-contained" command.

I changed the FCP clips' alpha to black prior to the export.
When I opened the clip in Motion, black was still black. No tranparency.

Could anybody give me a hand pls. I tried finding the
topic in the manual but lucked out.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the tip. I did try it and it worked out ok.
I also tried tga -sequence and that too worked out.

Guess your right, animation is the way to go. I was
hoping that FCP & Motion would've done the two-step
a bit easier.

well it can
it should work ok if you just select the clip in the FCP timeline, hit x to set in and out points for the clip and hit export to motion
should open up right in motion and you can just hit save in motion and it will update in FCP
