Text zoom out and spin

I've created a text layer with 8 sub-layers. I want the whole thing to zoom out and spin from center to 158%.

The zoom part is easy; I can't make it spin though. None of the text animations have the option I'm looking for.

I've collapsed the layers so that only the main layer is visible, hoping it might be identified as an object, but when I try and lay a "basic motion - spin" behaviour, it won't take.

Can you keyframe rotation?

Good point, just tried it. I was looking for the easier, softer way but this will work.

I can tweak the keyframes in the editor to smooth out the rotation. Thanks for the suggestion. I overlooked the obvious once again.

Try unchecking the "Affect Objects" checkbox in the Spin behavior. This sets whether the spin applies to the sub-objects in a layer, emitter, or text object individually (when ON), or the whole layer (when off).
