Problems Exporting PAL FCP Seq. as Self-Contained Quicktime Movie

Posted by Dan
Please help !! I am trying to finish a feature film I shot in PAL MiniDV while in England. Now I'm back in the US and it's hell on wheels !

When I combine 44.1 kHz audio files with the 48kHz audio files in a PAL sequence, all the images and edits appear fine while working in FCP 4.5HD.

BUT, the problem comes when I try to export to Quicktime as a Self Contained movie file. I have tried both 44.1 and 48kHz export settings from the PAL sequence in FCP.

Two common problems are:
1. Sections of Audio do not transfer at all. Some play, others do not.
2. The audio is all fine, BUT black flash frames occur after each "CUT" in the sequence. i.e. each time there is a cut in the timeline between shots in the edit, a black flash frame occurs in my Quicktime file.

WHY ??

I have been exporting each scene I edit to Quicktime so I can reimport them later as a back-to-back sequence of say 30 scenes or so before buring that one, long sequence to a DVD. Am I crazy ?

Is there an easier way ?

Thanks, anyone !

Dan
Post this in the Cafe LA, not here. FWIW you need to convert those 44.1khz files to match the 48khz files. You can do this with QT Pro or iTunes
