checked archives and haven't found answer for crash issue

I just started using motion 1.01 for the first time and it keeps crashing constantly. got a Dual 2.0 2.5 gigs of RAM, I currently have a GeForce FX 5200 64 MB, waiting for my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. What am I doing wrong? I'm just trying to get through a training session. And will I notice a big difference in performance once I drop my 256 mb card in?

Don't know why you are crashing, try trashing your prefs file, and then if no improvement, reinstall the app. Yes, you will see a big difference with the new card.

What will the difference be? faster RT action? how about with FCP? I was expecting a zero render experience but it seems to be slightly faster then my dated powerbook. Kind of dissappointed with it. Maybe my expectations were too high.

No, FCP will not be faster - FCP does not currently leverage the GPU the way Motion does.
