Particle movement

Hi, sorry for the newbie question but I'm in a pinch for my thesis show. I have a couple of particles (smoke/fire) that I want to follow a specific path which is the tip of a cigar. The motion of the cigar is pretty basic and it's speed is reduced. Is this simple or should I move on after the project is finished? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

turn on record animation (A); step through your animation frame by frame and move the Emitter in the Canvas to track it to the end of the cigar.

ah, merci beaucoup. Thanks a million. It's kind of a long clip (2 dv loops) and it's a little taxing on the ole g5 but appears to be exactlly what I need.
