Creating a economic graph animation?

Hey guys. I need to create an animation featuring a basic graph, with a line that connects to different co-ordinates, and it gets messy as one of my Economists talks crap about the economy:

"Goin up, down, up, down, left, right, goes into a coma, goes left, keeps goin left, turns around, gets into a big circle.. and keeps goin into a squiggly line... Holy **** this looks like PIcasso"

Possible to do via MotioN?

I can get a Dot to move around in motion from point to point, but i want it to leave a line trail... Kinda like drawing messily on a board u know?
