unwanted red color text when using livetype on text in motion

I created a text layer in motion, and applied the "clerk" livetype family to it. The color of the face of the font appear red in the canvas, but is shown/listed as white in the text>style tab.

this is the first time I've used livetype in motion--am I simply missing a setting or something that should be glaringly obvious to me? I poked around in the preferences and in the inspector, but didn't see anything.

LiveFonts are mini-QuickTime movies, self-contained and already having a color. All you can do is modify the existing color by filters such as hue/sat, tint, colorize, etc.
