retiming?

retiming?

Does anyone understand how the curve is represented in retiming. In Avid the curve is represented in percentages, so if I want to slow down to 50% and then speed up to 300% you move you curve to those percentage points. In Motion the curve doesn't represent percentages, I am not sure exactly what it represents and I find it very confusing to ramp clips. Can anyone share some insight and experience with this?

It works exactly as it does in Final Cut: upward sloping is forward in time (steeper is faster); downward is backwards; flat is freeze frame.

If you want percentages try using the timing behaviors.

If you have the manuals that came with FCP, read the part of how it is treated in FCP. I had read a bunch of descriptions on it, but that was the one that made it click.

Larry Jordan describes that function in FCP as
" a shade flaky"
use Motion for speed ramps "set Speed"
you can set multiple instances on the same clip
very easy and intuitive
