Round Tripping Problem

Hi,

I'm using the PMW EX1 Camera and editing in its native format.

When I "round trip" with a motion file to the time line Motion needs rendering and sometimes freezes. If I return to Motion to editing an element in the motion file and then go back to FC, I have black screen.

I note the resolution for the Motion file is 1280x720 rather than the 1080p setting that I have on the time line... Has this got anything to do with the problem and if so, how do I fix it?

I can export to Quicktime with the same setting as the time line and that works OK but it doesn't give me the convenience of Round Tripping.

Any ideas?

When you say you are roundtripping, are you actually first sending a clip from FCP to Motion? It sounds like you are just creating a Motion project and then importing it into FCP - if that's the case, either your project properties in Motion are incorrect (Edit>Project Properties) or FCP is incorrectly interpreting the Motion file (select the clip and hit Command-9 to check it out).

Yes, I'm sending a clip from FCP to Motion. And then going back to FCP.

I've re-set that to 1920/1080 XD Cam... I'll see if that solves the problems.
