Adjusting Amplitude

Suddenly, I am unable to adjust the amplitude on a project. I'm able to adjust the amplitude on another project, but with this one the "amplitude" in "process" is grayed out. Has anyone run into this problem and solved it? Have I inadvertently "locked" the amplitude? I've restarted the computer, but still "amplitude" is not available. Thanks in advance for your help.
