Before we upgraded to FCP 5, we were running 4.5HD with QT 7.0.1on a couple of Tiger G5s, we download upgraded to Quicktime 7.0.2. and both edit bays went nuts. I had strange solarized images turn up in the viewer and other bizarre things. We did all the normal trashing pref, repairing permissions etc. and nothing helped. We reby Jon Frank - Café LA Re: POLL : Do Lacies Actually Suck Or Not? - 17 years agoOkay, I'll chime in, we have about 20 Lacie drives at work. 2-60gb, 2-120gb, 2-200gb, 12-250gb and 2- 1 terrabyte drives. The only problem we have had has been with the first terrabyte drive. It's 2 800 connectors have failed and it doesn't always mount. The second terra drive has been good and we've never had a failure with one of the smaller drives. If I had to draw a conclusion from this pollby Jon Frank - Café LA Re: Pulling the trigger... - 17 years agoOR pick up a used G5 dual 2.7 or 2.5 etc. You can find them fully loaded for about 60% the cost of a new machine and when the Intel Macs get the bugs out you can get one of them. Plus some of the used machines come with some cool software you might not buy (or afford to buy) yourself.
