But they come mighty darn close-- the effort given to creating FCP8 in PPRO is impressive! - lsmby Loren Miller - Café LA Re: Animated map in FCP? - 10 years agoVery decent demo, Mike. Of course I would have retained the RED over brown and black, and would have pulled OUT from the origin to the whole traverse- you know, the right way to tell the story. But otherwise, nifty. If you happen to be in FCPX. - lsmby Loren Miller - Café LA Re: QT issue for DV capture - 10 years agoIn Capture presets, you check the frame rate? Should be 25 fps, right? Turn off Drop Frame? - lsmby Loren Miller - Café LA Re: Animated map in FCP? - 10 years agoBuild a bright map path against black in Photoshop, aligned to the map graphic, export a TIFF RGB, import to FCP, and it should key over your map. Layered over the map, apply an 8-point garbage matte to the path graphic and set it to disclose the path over time using two or more keyframes. I find using the Command key with the numeric keypad to select and cut angles rather fun, following or upcutting the beat. You will LOVE it. He has OUR head for detail. Get it. Every page turns you into a power user. Until FCPX, you could see FCP7 in many Hollywood cutting rooms, I visited Showtime and watched BJ Sears (VIRTUOSITY, RED SNEAKERS) show me his chops on FCP. Yet Avid maintains a stronghold. Yby Loren Miller - Café LA Re: Need help cleaning up drive before delivering project created in FCP 7 - 10 years agoIf you MUST neaten and reorganize both media drives and project files, (and good for you!) and have time and can buy new drives, here's a more elaborate precaution: 1) EXPORT each timeline in native format as a Check Print, to a separate connected volume. For a 2-hour ProResHD 1080i program you'll need around 130GB. 2) Copy each FCP project file to a backup location-- even a flash drive orby Loren Miller - Café LA Re: organizing photos in FCP 7 project - 10 years agoWhat you might consider doing is backing up the master project file(s) and cloning the media drive(s). To Derek's point re shape: think cooling efficiency. Maybe requires only one fan, or lower power fans. As to lying an expansion cylinder flat, it won't roll-- they'll make sure it has feet. It's looks like the dream of many a Mac Pro user-- the Mini-Tower!! I suspect the basic cylinder price will be something like US$2499. But that PCI-Express expansion chassis, which we'll likely need for all legacy hardware, may be a sticker shock. They should go light on that; it would feel like blackmail otherwise. Should not actually *require* a render-- green means realtime playback available at reduced resolution.
