re-editing a film graded in color - 16 years agoWe're working on a short film (DVCPRO HD) in FCP that's been graded in Color. There are some small changes that need to be made to the edit and FCP is acting a little buggy. It's cutting off the end of sequences and losing filters unpredictably and also it seems to be mixing up clips (after the color grade, there are a lot of new clips in the bin. The MXO wasn't compatible with color, but now it seems it is. If that is hooked up with an apple 23" cinema display, do we have something we can do colour grading on or would the hdlink be adequate or would neither do the job? Sorry if this is a boring/stupid/newbie question, I know it's a can of worms, but the whole topic is somewhat doing my heaby jon kudelka - Color Re: does the sony DCRHC28 play back dvcam recordings - 16 years agoThanks Nick - unfortunately I sent back the last lot of DVCAM masters when the job was finished, but will try and get hold of some for the practical test. If anybody's already tried it already and wants to save me the trouble, speak now.... cheers, Jonby jon kudelka - Café LA does the sony DCRHC28 play back dvcam recordings - 16 years agoHi there, I'm looking for a cheap solution to importing DV Cam recordings into FCP and the Sony DCRHC28 looks about as cheap as it's going to get! I'm told that most Sony miniDV cameras do play back DV Cam (note, I don't want to record in DV Cam, just play it back) but it's hard to get a straight answer and I was wondering if anybody knew for sure. Regards, Jonby jon kudelka - Café LA Re: AVCHD editing setup - 16 years agoAgain, thanks for all the advice. I've looked into the Matrox MXO and it seems just the ticket as it seems the producer wants us to do the colour correction (I have pointed out thatr this will be the first time - any good tutorials on Color out there?). I've got a 20 inch apple monitor for running final cut and a 23 inch apple monitor for hooking up to the Matrox to view the video. I should clarify that I already have one apple display - the second display plus HD link was for the purposes of viewing the video.by jon kudelka - Café LA Re: AVCHD editing setup - 16 years agoSorry Michael, yes, that's the camera, and yes, it's DVCPRO HD. Not sure why I thought it was AVCHD. After some research, there don't seem to be many options for setting up an internal Raid. so I was thinking that a CalDigit S2VR Duo SATA RAID 500GB unit might be a good Raid option (looking perhaps at the 1TB if the credit card permits). Also, a Blackmagic HD link plus a 23 inch apple cineby jon kudelka - Café LA AVCHD editing setup - 16 years agoHi, I'm using a mac 2.66 quad, no RAID, FCP 6.01. I've got a potential editing job on a short film where they're using a Pansonic HD 202 to shoot. Up until now, I've only edited offline in DV for film stuff, so HD editing is new. If anyone can give some assistance with a few questions, it would be much appreciated. Firstly, do I need to set up a RAID to handle HD? Second, the AVCHD is coby jon kudelka - Café LA Re: anamorphic footage in a non-anamorphic sequence - 16 years agoJude, Derek, thanks a million. Problem solved. regards, Jonby jon kudelka - Café LA anamorphic footage in a non-anamorphic sequence - 16 years agoHi, I've got a project that was shot anamorphically and captured as anamorphic, but unfortunately edited in a non-anamorphic sequence. I suspect that this is a bit of a checkmate, but is there any workaround where I can get the sequence to be anamorphic without starting from the beginning? I'm using FCP 6 on a 2.66 core duo intel mac. regards, Jon Kudelkaby jon kudelka - Café LA |
