Option to Analyze used portion of clip for Optical Flow features - 16 years agoI love optical slow and stabilization, but hate the fact that it analyzes the entire clip. How about a checkbox to allow us to just analyze the clip (maybe with handles) not the entire media. The workaround of exporting a self-contained movie for every clip you want to affect is really lame.by Mike S. - FCP Feature Requests Re: So... any news from the Super Meet? - 16 years agoSo WHAT was the super secret something from Apple?by Mike S. - Café LA Re: FCS workflow - 16 years agoI'm not sure I quite follow what you are saying. I want to go into motion to do optical flow on some slo-mo shots and do some special fx. I guess you are saying, go from FCP to color...do the grading, then after returning to FCP, then go to motion and finish the workflow?by Mike S. - Color FCS workflow - 16 years agoWe've just picture locked and I'm ready for Color and FX. I have shots with speed ramps and some shots that I want to affect using Motion (optical flow, particles, etc.) I know that Color does not handle motn files or speed changes very well. My question is...should I go from FCP into Color then into motion, or motion first? Also, it was shot on DVCPRO HD 720p. Should I go into prores or anoby Mike S. - Color Re: Shake 4 vs. DV Matte Pro Keyers - 16 years agoHey Steve, I have used the keylight filter in Shake to pull keys and it is wonderful. Check out Conduit by DV garage. It is a plug-in that works inside of FCP and Motion. In motion it lets you view your key in real time (provided you have a fast grfx card). Both Shake and AE are excellent solutions too, but the roundtripping involves more steps. Placing a slug in the top layer and applying a widescreen matte filter and invert filter may not play back in real time. Just 2 ways of doing the exact same thing....depending on your system, mileage may vary.by Mike S. - Café LA Re: applying effects to multiple clips in browser - 16 years agoI agree with Derek on this one. I have created several widescreen mattes in photoshop as pict files, and just lay one on the top-most track in FCP. Most systems can play this back in real-time with no need to render. The drawback is you can't adjust the matte size like you could with a widescreen filter.by Mike S. - Café LA Re: P2 Import on FCP 6.0.2 BUSTED...one solution - 16 years agoThat is good to know. After your warning about P2 media difficulties, I recommended to our engineering staff that we stay on 6.0.1 until that is resolved. Go to the properties tab, and twirl down the triangle in the timing tab to reveal more options. You will see a pulldown menu under blending options. Select "optical flow." Motion will analyze the clip. After it is done, you can save and go to FCP then render the clip. Currently on 7.2. Had to reinstall everything...OS and FC Studio to get rid of the QT 7.2 compatability upgrade and the pro apps upgrade. They were screwing up my system...making the audio pop and crackle. I don't usually cut a project like this. I have synced up the various takes and put them into multiclips. That's as far as I have gotten so far.by Mike S. - Café LA Re: Final Cut Studio updates out - 16 years agoHey Shane, I am editing a project that was recorded in 720p. The clips came in off the P2 card and were transferred to a hard drive. When I used Log and Transfer to bring them into a project, they came into FCP as 23.98. In your message you said 23.98 wasn't supported in FCP 6. I am a little confused. This has been changed to early 2008.by Mike S. - Café LA Slates and timecode - 16 years agoI am editing a music video that was shot with the panasonic HVX-200. It was shot on 720P at 23.98, but the smart slate with music playback was running at 29.97. The P2 cards were ingested onto the harddrives on location, so the media I have can't be changed. Is this going to present a problem, and if so is there a solution?by Mike S. - Café LA |
