Re: Sequence Settings for Final Output - 14 years agoOk cool...so I'm going to do the whole dropping my timeline into a 10-bit uncompressed sequence and that should be good. I want to drop in all unrendered footage so is it a good idea to create a new project using media manager and just don't include render files? That makes sense to me but I'm open to other opinions. Thanks again for all your responses!by Brandon102 - Café LA Re: Sequence Settings for Final Output - 14 years agoAlso, as far as the render settings...should I just leave it at the standard "Render in 8-bit YUV"? Or, which is the best quality one? Thanks!by Brandon102 - Café LA Re: Sequence Settings for Final Output - 14 years agoMost likely mastering to digibeta then making copies to other formats from that. But, i just want my animations and subtitles to look as crisp as possible. Thanks and hope that helps.by Brandon102 - Café LA Re: Sequence Settings for Final Output - 14 years agoThank you! But, if I put all my un-rendered footage into a new 10-bit uncompressed sequence...my animations will look beautiful but will anything or could anything happen to my mini dv footage? It doesn't really make sense that something would happen but I just want to be sure. Is that probably the best way to just drop it all into a 10bit sequence? Thanks again!by Brandon102 - Café LA Sequence Settings for Final Output - 14 years agoHi everyone! First of all, thank you so much in advance for helping out. I have a few questions that I am not sure about and hopefully you can advise me in the best direction! Using FCP 5.1.4 I have spent years editing a documentary, shot on mini dv with a few animations from after effects. It's already edited and pretty much solidified on the timeline. Under sequence settings, the quicktimby Brandon102 - Café LA TimeCode Generator Question - 15 years agoHi Everyone..thank you so much in advance for your help. I have a problem that came up. A few months ago, I took my 1.5 hour film, nested everything into one sequence, and then applied a timecode generator and everything worked well and perfect. Now, I went to do that again and when I applied the timecode generator...it does this weird thing where the timecode lags/jumps off the screen wheneby Brandon102 - Café LA Re: Final Cut Pro 6 upgrade - 15 years agoThanks Derek, I agree that an upgrade is a pain. But, I'm working with subtitles as well so I feel like I need the freedom just in case I have to even change one word somewhere in my film. I'm pretty much picture locked but its always so hard to make that decision. But overall, should there be any problems or things to watch out for if I choose to upgrade my FCP from 5 to 6? Would all my proby Brandon102 - Café LA Color Question - 15 years agoHey Guys, I have a quick question. I have recently looked at color correctors to hire for my film. I don't need any major things but just a standard broadcast safe check for most. The only intensive things are a few shots that need to be turned from day to night and thats about it. One guy wants to use the new program Color, which sounds really awesome. But, the other guy who seems morby Brandon102 - Color Final Cut Pro 6 upgrade - 15 years agoHey Everyone, I have been working on a film for almost two years. Now that I am pretty much done with my edit, I have to give it to my color corrector to touch it up. I am running final cut 5.0 and he is running the latest 6.0 He told me to upgrade my software because it would obviously make it easier to go back and forth. But, I am afraid to touch anything on the computer I'm editing withby Brandon102 - Café LA TitleCleaner - 16 years agoHas anyone used TitleCleaner? I can't figure out what's going on. I think I figured out what's best for me to do: I'm using Arial, size 23, leading 1.5, with a tiny drop shadow, and an outline of width 10 or so (The values for width are 1-100, not in pixels though). It looks great but I just wanted to make sure that it won't appear jittery or unclear when I finally output it. Should I make sure that nothing goes below the title safe line. Forby Brandon102 - Café LA Subtitle Question - 16 years agoI have a quick question and thank you for your help in advance. I am editing a film with subtitles in fcp. What does anyone think is the best way to make the subtitle more readable? I was thinking of using the drop shadow in the motion tab. I am using Arial font, size 22, tracking 1. Any other ideas about the font or sizes etc...? Am I on the right track?by Brandon102 - Café LA Re: Pixel Aspect Ratio - 16 years agoOne more thing. I exported an edited file in quicktime and here's what it says: Format: DV, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions 16-bit Integer (Big Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz Normal Size: 720x480 pixels Current Size: 720x480 pixels (Actual) If I play the footage itself in quicktime from the capture scratch, it has the same format except: Normal Size: 640x480 Current Sizby Brandon102 - Café LA Re: Pixel Aspect Ratio - 16 years agoGreat Bill and Tom! Thank you so much for your help. If anyone else has anything to add, please feel free. Thanks guys!by Brandon102 - Café LA Re: Pixel Aspect Ratio - 16 years agoHey Tom, that may be the case but for the time being, I am correct in leaving it under the NTSC-CCIR 601/DV setting right? The animator is good at the graphics but maybe not this stuff, so what should I do? Thank you so muchby Brandon102 - Café LA Pixel Aspect Ratio - 16 years agoHi everyone, Thank you so much for helping me. I have a quick question. I am editing a documentary shot on dv at 29.98 fps. In final cut pro, my sequence settings for pixel aspect ratio are set to "NTSC-CCIR 601/DV" which it has been this whole time. In the browser window, the frame size for all my clips is 720x480. Today, after a meeting with an animator, he said that while lby Brandon102 - Café LA |
