Re: FCP 7 on OS 10.7 - 12 years agoThe new animations can be disabled if you like:by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: EOS Log and Transfer Plugin - 12 years agoThe Canon Log and Transfer plugin has always been difficult to find on Canon's site. You can get it here under Drivers and Software. Select Mac OS X under Operating System for it to appear in the list. Also, if you are planning to install Avid Media Composer 6 when it is released next week, please note that it is certified for Lion only.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: General Error message during playback in FCP 6.0.6 - 12 years agoFrom Crash Analyzer: General Error (Final Cut Pro) This error can have multiple causes but a common cause is unsupported media (e.g. CMYK images). Suggested Actions * If your sequence codec is set to a long-GOP codec such as HDV, H.264, XDCAM, AVCHD, MPEG-2, set it to ProRes. * For best results, convert long-GOP and non-QuickTime media such as AVI or WMV to ProRes. * Make sure all imaby Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Codec not found - 12 years agoIf you press Cmd+0 to view Sequence Settings, what codec is listed for the sequence?by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Afghanistan and FCP X - 12 years agoMichael Horton Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I dont know why but I'd sure > love to visit this place. Is there no reconnect feature in X to realine clips in a project? - 12 years agoFrom the FAQ: Q: How do I reconnect media? A: Go to File > Import > Files and browse for the original media files. If the files are already in the project, they will be reconnected. There are two caveats: firstly, there is no way to reconnect to a different file (such as if you were replacing a temp VFX shot with the finished one) and secondly, it will always copy the file to youby Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: Website Creation Advice Needed - hire out or do it myself - 12 years agoI'd say try it yourself and if you don't like the results, go down the paid route.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: FCP Help - 12 years agoHave you tried the usual stuff like toggling Airport on and off, checking your ping to Apple's servers, etc?by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: FCPX does this mean I can or can't use my Motion from FCP7 Studio? - 12 years agoI just did a test and I wasn't able to directly drag in a Motion project. Also remember that there is an FCPX trial that you can download to test things out before purchasing.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: Out of Memory, I thought I'd seen a solution to this. - 12 years agoThis is generally caused by corrupt or invalid media in your timeline. It can be caused by using a codec that is unsuitable for editing (e.g. H.264 or FLV), by images that are too large (more than 4000px in width or height) or by images that are not RGB.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: 422 or 422 LT? (is LT available in Compressor 4?) - 12 years agoAs far as I'm aware, LT is still shipped with the Pro Apps codecs. To create your own preset, click the + button under Settings and select QuickTime Movie. Click Settings next to Video and select ProRes 422 (LT) from the list.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: Do all effects need rendering now? - 12 years agoThe bold / non-bold in FCP 6 referred to whether or not it was processed directly on the graphics card. FCPX uses AV Foundation instead of QuickTime, which is designed to be an accelerated API (at least for common formats). So for basic effects and transitions on optimized media you shouldn't have to render at all.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: Do all effects need rendering now? - 12 years agoFCPX can play effects perfectly well without rendering, however for unknown reasons Apple chose to switch on background rendering by default. You can disable it in preferences.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: Problems with these FILTERS.. anyone else?? - 12 years agoThis crash is a known issue and seems to mainly affect people using the trial version. I don't know of a solution yet but here is a thread on the topic:by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: Voice Overs Gone - 12 years agoThe only way to revert to 10.0.0 (which has some serious bugs btw) is to restore it from a backup. It's worth checking Time Machine to see if you get lucky.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: MC project opens with split windows - 12 years agoI just noticed something - it's running on a Mac but the "close" buttons on all of the windows are on the right-hand side. I was hoping MC6 would be more Mac-like but this makes me less optimistic now.by Jon Chappell - Avid Media Composer Re: codec conversion for large HDTV screen and MPEG-2 issues - 12 years agoDo you even need to convert to WMV if the PC is capable of playing back the ProRes movie?by Jon Chappell - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: A Word of Advice - 12 years agoI agree with Derek. FCP7 and FCPX are not the only choices you have. It's also worth noting that Premiere has special pricing for FCP users that expires on October 31st.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: Help request: Black line in rescaled video in Premiere Pro 5.5? - 12 years agoI just imported a 1080p H.264 file from a DSLR into a 2240x960 sequence with the preview codec set to ProRes 422 and did not experience this issue on Premiere 5.5.1. The biggest change in this version is Final Cut Pro synchronization. You can now sync your Final Cut Pro 6 or 7 timeline over wi-fi and have the timecode display in Cut Notes update automatically as you play or scrub in FCP. Give Compressor Repair a try and if that doesn't work, your only choice is to uninstall and reinstall Final Cut Studio:by Jon Chappell - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: Capability Question - 12 years agoThis is not something you're going to be able to do easily. It's going to require some serious VFX work.
