Re: New Final Cut Pro at Supermeet, April 12 - 13 years agoSeriously tho ... switch to a square pixel timeline and check again ... and yes, the motion tab only displays point values to two degrees of precision, so 0.075 is shown as 0.08, but the more accurate value is held internally so that when you add another 0.075 then it's total is correctly shown as 0.15 ... eek, we should add this to the video maths thread!by Andy Mees - Café LA Re: New Final Cut Pro at Supermeet, April 12 - 13 years agodependent on the pixel aspect ratio?by Andy Mees - Café LA Re: Need One Ticket to Las Vegas Supermeet - 13 years agoIf you find someone with spare tickets then please check to see if they also have spare airline tickets too, preferably Kuala Lumpur to Las Vegas (insert dream like wibbly wobbly transition here).by Andy Mees - Café LA Re: Rendering Clips: Is it a function of the Harddrive, or the brute power of the CPU (Gigaflop Power) - 13 years agothe hard drive you have is plenty fast enough, thats not the bottleneck here I think ... more RAM would certainly help (you could and should up it to at least 4GB) ... but I'd agree with Strypes, the real issue with your system is the CPU et al, its time to upgrade, I dare say my ancient (5 year old) Core Duo laptop (now relegated to family media center duties) would run circles round your once pby Andy Mees - Café LA Re: Mpeg Streamclip Output for a Windows Machine from FCP - 13 years agoAVI is a wrapper, h264 is a codec If you are happy with the compression then an H264 in an MP4 wrapper should play nice with a PC ... failing that then why not keep it as a native ProRes QuickTime Movie? You make some really clear and obviously valid comments, and some more that may be open to different interpretation. I'd be inclined to discuss the latter but I'm on the Matrox beta team at present, and whilst they allow me some room to leak out a bit of pre-release info every now and agaby Andy Mees - Café LA Re: do I need an mxo box? - 13 years agoThanks Ben Absolutely agree, the Panasonic Pro Plasmas seem to have a fantastic reputation ... in my own searches in the past I've found those earlier models are damn hard to find tho, so they must be good :-). But Yogatic, if you do get hold of one, please make sure its one of those with the Studio Reference Mode / Pro Setting Mode that Ben describes ... you'll need that if you want to get a reby Andy Mees - Café LA Re: do I need an mxo box? - 13 years agoThats a tricky one, not enough money to buy a really good monitor ... but not pocket change either ... I'd hate to be responsible for spending your money unwisely, and as I don't have a monitor I use myself for color reference in this price range I can't really make a recommendation for you based on personal experience. But if I were about to buy such a monitor I'd certainly take a good look aby Andy Mees - Café LA Re: FCP Matrox O2 - 13 years ago>FYI, the Matrox MXO2's feature to "calibrate" an external monitor is marketing hype. In other words, it doesn't do a proper calibration because all that is being done is (improperly) modifying the signal being sent to a monitor. The monitor itself needs to be adjusted manually (or via "high-end" hardware).
