Re: A brand new plugin from Graeme Nattress, Levels and Curves - 12 years agoWell, following a heads up from Simon Ubsdell I investigated this Nattress plugin and discovered that the onscreen curve line is just a representation of the controls in the inspector. One might get the impression that you control the levels by manipulating the curve on the screen as you might do in photoshop but, unless there is a bug with the published software, this does not seem to be theby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: FCPX 10.0.1 is out - 12 years agoIt's all live here in the UK. Downloading at the moment although bit concerned as to what updating Events and Projects means ? Anybody know what this entails?by Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: Flip to FCPX - 12 years agoHi Dom, might i suggest that you pre-transcode your Flip files before you import them into FCP X. I'm not sure what codec the Flip records to but there are lots of, mostly free, transcoders such as MPEG Steamclip to turn your files into Pro-Res 422 ( or Pro-Res 422 L ) You can then import these files with all the checkboxes unchecked, referencing the files, and choose on a clip by clipby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: Using alias.mov files to reconnect media links. / - 12 years agoThank's for that Michael, My original comment was not in any way directed at LAFCPUG but at very very enthusiastic iPhone camerawork. It goes without saying that I really appreciate the effort you all put into sharing information amongst the FCP community. So thanks to you Dean! If I lived in your neck of the woods I'd happily help out and indeed next time you come to London give meby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: Using alias.mov files to reconnect media links. - 12 years agoHi Steve, Very clever! Yes, that works really well and is a lot less accident prone than my method of hand selecting and file copying alias.mov files. Really good solution for combining the work of 2 people analysing / working on the same material. I've just done a couple of experiments and all my interview notes / part transcribes, showed up in the new merged event. It's then aby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: Using alias.mov files to reconnect media links. / - 12 years agoHi Michael, Has there been some misunderstanding? What is that I have said that has offended you? You make me sound both rude and ungrateful and I would really appreciate you letting me know what might have given you the impression that I was complaining about anything. all the best markby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: Graphically Enhanced Manual for FCP X - 12 years agoEdgar, A real achievement. Really clear explanations and graphics and at the price you are selling it for, a real bargain. It would have been useful to have had this publication on day one. Definitely something I would recommend for a beginner. However not a lot to learn for experienced editors who have been working with FCP X since its launch. For me this is a great format and at tby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: What Happened To ProRes LT? - 12 years agoPro-Res Lt works fine in FCP X. I transfer all my Canon 7D clips into Pro-Res LT before referencing to them. I could imagine that updates will bring in more file types. I hope soby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: Using alias.mov files to reconnect media links. - 12 years agoHi Steve, Thanks for your reply. I'll attempt to take you through my workflow clearly. 1. I import files from my Canon XF305 camera via FCP7 log and transfer. These MXF files are transferred natively and become XD Cam HD422 1080p25(50mb/s)files. These are smaller in size than Pro-Res 422 LT or the FCP X default Pro-Res 422. These files are stored in a folder on one of my external GTech dby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: Using alias.mov files to reconnect media links. - 12 years agoif the info is there i'm sure we could filter out the stuff that doesn't work. I remember watching really crap footage of fcp x initial launch and getting info despite dreadful camerawork.by Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: Using alias.mov files to reconnect media links. - 12 years agoMichael, Will you be posting videos of your last meeting? - the one with Steve Kanter. This area is a key one for me. Mark Dobsonby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Re: Using alias.mov files to reconnect media links. - 12 years agoYeah I picked up on your blog last week - thanks. My understanding is that Modify Event References only works with Projects. There is no option to use it with events unless I've missed something. And yes, It would be great if one could create and move proxy files and then reconnect.by Mark Dobson - Café LA - X Using alias.mov files to reconnect media links. - 12 years agoI?ve discovered a useful workaround for 2 people working on the same material that is especially useful for the documentary approach where more than one person is working on interview material or detailed work on analysing content. Alban Egger, I think that it is him? Has already posted a very useful guide to remote working on parts of a project. However my post relates to specificallyby Mark Dobson - Café LA - X |
