Digitizing mini DV? - 10 years agoThis may seem like a really stupid question but is it still possible to digitize a mini DV tape with FCP X?by Ksite - Café LA - X multiclip mystery - 10 years agoHello. Very strange things are afoot with my multiclips. I have 2 video tracks and 1 audio tracked synced together in a multiclip. As I watch and listen, I'm creating markers and cutting into a selects sequence. Randomly, V2 will disappear and the markers as well. I try selecting the other video track but there is nothing there. Is this a setting or a bug? Thanksby Ksite - Café LA Re: Serious Export issues - 12 years agoThanks Jude, for your help. I changed the codec in the sequence settings, but am still having the same problem. When I export the Quick Time Movie, I am selecting Current Settings, maybe that's where the problem lies??? Any ideas?by Ksite - Café LA Serious Export issues - 12 years agoHi. I am having problems with exporting a Quicktime Movie/ same as source. My project has mixed media HD 1920X1080 23.98 fps and HD 1280X720 59.94 fps The sequence however is HD 1920x1080 23.98 fps. Whenever I used 1280x720 footage FCP would automatically resize and change the frame rate and I would have to render the clip. Broadcast safe filter is on and all the media is renderedby Ksite - Café LA firmtek enclosure incompatible with Mac? - 13 years agoHi. I have a firmtek/seritek esata enclosure for my 2x 1 TB harddrives. I am sadly learning that this enclosure is incompatible with my Macintosh. At this point I can invest another $127 in a Spyderhub or I can return this and purchase a single drive enclosure with Firewire ports (in considerably less expensive option). I already have 1 rocstor firewire enclosure. However I've heard throughby Ksite - Café LA Re: best preset for multiformat. - 13 years agoThanks for all the sound advice. But it seems that the director is set on HD. He is in the process of converting everything to Apple Prores 422. Right now he's putting all the SD through the AJA Kona LHi card for HD uprez. Is this a bad idea.by Ksite - Café LA best preset for multiformat. - 13 years agoI'm starting a project which is multiformat. SD MiniDv (from DVX100), footage shot on Sony EX3, Canon 7d, Panasonic P2, and most likely a little AVCHD from a Gopro as well. The director wants the final product to be in HD (should this be considered as well). Any suggestions on which Preset will cause the least amount of complications down the road?by Ksite - Café LA Re: Rendering - 14 years agoHi, Is there a way to delete all render files except for the ones in a particular sequence? Thanks.by Ksite - Café LA Re: Credits - 14 years agoThanks for all the good advice. The clincher which I failed to mention before is that I'm not getting paid for this. I did it in an attempt to move laterally from short format to longer format documentary. The other thing is.. the project is not totally finished. The TV version is complete but the longer feature length film festival version still needs fine tuning. How much can I push for bby Ksite - Café LA Re: Rendering - 14 years agoDo you use any stills? Sometimes, if the jpegs or tiffs are too large in size, FCP has a hard time dealing with it. You may have to resize them down.by Ksite - Café LA Credits - 14 years agoHey All, Here is non technical question. I have been working on a feature length historical/political documentary for the past year. It is complete and in the online phase. Initially, I was given 150 hours of interview and broll footage and a 5 hour stringout (which only accounted for about 1/10 of all the footage). I was left alone for much of the time and seemingly had complete creativeby Ksite - Café LA Moray Effect on still images with motion effect - 14 years agoHello All, This is such a basic question, I'm embarrassed to ask BUT... I have an SD project which incorporates alot of tiffs that have pans or zoom ins. They look fine on my computer monitor when the canvas is at %100 but look terrible on SD TV monitor. Basically some of the images have a terrible moray effect. Where do I begin to trouble shoot this? Are there certain specs that are neby Ksite - Café LA Re: AJA kona vs. Black Magic - 15 years agoThanks for the good advice. And regarding "up/down conversion of the Kona 3" do you mean SD to HD/HD to SD?by Ksite - Café LA AJA kona vs. Black Magic - 15 years agoAJA vs Black Magic. Any insights into which would be adequate enough for digitizing, editing, and laying to HDCAM tape, a piece for broadcast. There is some graphics, the footage is mostly man on the street interviews shot in HD DVCpro.by Ksite - Café LA Renting an HD editing system - 15 years agoHello. I'm interested in renting a FCP editing system capable of capturing and laying off broadcast quality to a D5 tape. Would a MacPro dual 2.8Ghz with at least 4GB ram, w/ Kona 3 video card, a 1TB raid1 external hard drive, and appropriate viewing monitor suffice? There is only about an hour of footage and the final pieces are 1 minute long. Also, can anyone recommend a good place or pby Ksite - Café LA |
