Re: Has anyone tried Footage Firm Music Library? - 13 years agoTook a chance and bought their landscape series - I fgured, for such a small coin toss, I could gamble. It was worth it.by qeditor - Café LA Re: audio fix - 13 years agoMy experience is - save yourself a lot of wasted time - re-record the two minutes. Peaked audio is like video white at 120 IRE - you can't recover it to anything resembling usefulness.by qeditor - Café LA Re: re: OT - Tony Curtis dead at 85 - 13 years ago"Stoney Curtis"...I forgot that one. My favorite film of his - "The Great Race". I do render out QT movies for the bigger multi-layer projects, though - good suggestion Dave, I completely spaced out the Motion Forum. Thanks all!by qeditor - Café LA Motion in FCP sequence locks up system - 13 years agoHowdy, I am having a recurring problem using Motion projects in an FCP timeline. I have a 6:30 TRT sequence using DVCPROHD 720p clips on an internal SATA RAID. I created the lower thirds in Motion (to the same aspect size, 1280 x 720), saved them and then dragged the icon from the Motion window into the FCP timeline. So far, so good! Time goes by, editing continues, more Motion stuff in timby qeditor - Café LA A re-post but worth re-posting - 13 years agoDidn't mean to bury this on a back thread... I just gotta say it - this forum kicks ass. It is always my first net page to open in the morning before an edit, either to check out what's going on or do quick search for an answer to a edit question that came up... Or just to read some of the funny/acerbic/insightful comments from the pros... Thank you all!by qeditor - Café LA Re: I get a error when I open the new help in FCP7: - 13 years agoI just gotta say it - this forum kicks ass. You're right - thanks for the reply Graeme BTW I love your Standards Converter - it has saved me lots of grief and I have recommended it to others many times since I purchased it.by qeditor - Café LA Best workflow from DVCPRO HD to Beta SP? - 14 years agoI am going to be capturing Varicam 720p24 through my Kona 3 card which then needs to be edited and output back to Beta SP via my AJA IO. I will also need to make an SD DVD autostart as a backup. I bought Phil Hodgetts "HD Survival Handbook" - it seems I should import the footage to Pro Res 422, edit the clips in FCP and then use Media Manager to change to Uncompressed 8 bit to go bacby qeditor - Café LA Re: OT: Adobe CS5 Countdown to April 12th Launch! - 14 years agoContent-Aware-Fill...that is freaking AMAZING.by qeditor - Café LA Re: Protools users group - 14 years agowww.digidesign.com has great links to PT user groups.by qeditor - Café LA Re: TEMPLATES AND SPECIAL EFFECTS - 14 years agoAll caps means you're shouting...no need to shout.by qeditor - Café LA Re: O.T The future of editing - 14 years agoA few words come to mind...Interesting...fluid....expensive. But fascinating, too.by qeditor - Café LA Re: Does FCP 7 have this feature? - 14 years agoThanks Nick - you describe what I already do, which works. I just liked the elegance of the AE feature - maybe I could write an Applet that does this?by qeditor - Café LA Does FCP 7 have this feature? - 14 years agoAs I dive back into AE for the first time in seven years, I see things I wish FCP had...like the file "Increment & Save" selection. I make LOTS of incremental sequences (an old habit from Editbox days) and would love for FCP to include this - or maybe it does? I can't find it in the FCP index - or maybe it's there and I just don't see it.by qeditor - Café LA Re: tablets ? - 14 years agoSince version 1.2.5. Try it, it takes some getting used to - I came to FCP (via Avid) and Quantel Editbox, which at the time had a dinky keyboard and a giant tablet and pen. Its much more ergonomic to hold a pen than it is to extend your arm to clutch at a mouse.by qeditor - Café LA Re: tablets ? - 14 years agoThe tablet is just the mouse without the carpal tunnel. Get a Wacom, whatever size fits your budget - I have the smaller tablet, it works well for simple graphic work in Photoshop - and really relieves the "mouse clench" stress.by qeditor - Café LA Upgrading drives - will Carbon Copy Cloner work for copying my FCP RAID? - 14 years agoI have a large project coming in house, all in HD. Up till now I have managed to get by with 2 250GB drives - RAIDed as one for SD and short HD projects, plus two other 150 GB drives for assorted media, etc. But now I am going to install 2 1TB drives and RAID them and not think about elbow room anymore (at least for a while...) I know Carbon Copy Cloner will copy everything from the RAID to exby qeditor - Café LA Re: OT Apple Meet The Expert, Free FCP & Editing Webinar Tomorrow at 11:00 PDT - 14 years agoMe, too.by qeditor - Café LA Re: Can't extend drop zone length - 14 years agoFigured it out - the little sucker was locked. Unlocked it and presto! it works.by qeditor - Motion Re: Can't extend drop zone length - 14 years agoIt's from a project template I purchased from Motionvfx. There areother drop zones just like it in the template, so I may have to duplicate one of the other ones and use it.by qeditor - Motion Can't extend drop zone length - 14 years agoI have a drop zone that is 217 frames long and I want to make it twice that - but when I drag on the end of it in the timeline, nothing happens - and when I select it and go to properties, the timing panel doesn't show anything that I can change (just the word "timing" and a down arrow with nothing below it). Any helpful ideas? FCS 3 Motion 4 13 GB RAM Mac Pro Intel Xeon Dual Cby qeditor - Motion Re: Share experiences with Nattress Standards Converter? - 14 years agoAh, renting a converter is a novel idea! I'll check into that route, too, thanks!by qeditor - Café LA Re: Share experiences with Nattress Standards Converter? - 14 years agoThanks - I'm going to steer them toward the duplication house!by qeditor - Café LA Re: Share experiences with Nattress Standards Converter? - 14 years agoAlso known as a format guide - its a written set of standards for a broadcast program, such as type of fonts, font size, colors allowed, screen placement, lower thirds, etc. I've had to use them for Discovery Channel, Lifetime and Speed Channel, as well as ESPN, etc. It codifies everything you need to know in order to produce the program that is broadcast-ready.by qeditor - Café LA Re: Share experiences with Nattress Standards Converter? - 14 years agoI'll check with my local duplication house - I know they do conversions, but as you stated, price will be the tradeoff. Fortunately, some of these episodes are being mastered back to PAL DVD's, which I can use DVDSP to complete - the other problem is the client doesn't have a production bible and needs one badly (we're talking multiple editors on different platforms worldwide...) Looks like I mayby qeditor - Café LA Re: Share experiences with Nattress Standards Converter? - 14 years agoThanks Jeff - I agree that Graeme's tool is very good - the final quality looks darn close to the original. But the time factor is murderous.by qeditor - Café LA |
