I better go put on a robe.by Dean - Café LA Re: What do you do for a MiniDV deck when you don't have $3,000 for a deck? Used? ?? - 17 years agoIf you can afford $800 that JVC mini Dv SVHS deck works very well it's a lot faster then using a camera as a deck. It's not quite as professional as the other decks but should get you through until you make enough money to afford a professional deck.by Dean - Café LA Re: OT: Who's Up for a COLD one Tonight? - 17 years agoAh Crap I just got home from a party and I can't drive up to LA other wise you know I'd be there. I could see using that, switching form video to web apps, neatly collected and lauching when needed." I already do this using You Control Desktop. although Apples implementation looks a little bit more elegant.by Dean - Café LA Mac Pro is Bad News For Cafe LA - 17 years agoYes that is right The Cafe LA is going to suffer when Shane, Derek and others get these new machines and have a lot less render times if any, thus having to keep editing and won't be able to help in the forums while they have less down times. Now that I think of it will they even be able to have a coffee break? I hope those guys start editing 4K real soon.by Dean - Café LA Re: Are the new intel towers going to be 32bit or 64bit? - 17 years agoYour most likely going to have to wait until WWDC in August and then you might just get a preview of what's coming. I kind of think that if the Mac Pro or what ever it will be called is ready it will have 32 bit Procs if we get a They'll ship in Sept. October we may see the 64 bit Procs with maybe up to 8 cores in each machine. I have no insight other then what I have read and know of the past. If it was saved as a Quicktime movie they would have Q design it's been there since I think QT 3.by Dean - Café LA Re: How do you shrink down an audio file so it can be placed over the web? - 17 years agoFirst open the file in Quicktime pro. Export I would make it quicktime to quicktime movie click the sound options button you can use the Q design and figure out what sounds best to you. For sure I would make it mono and then 44.100 or even 22.000. You could also make it a MP3 in iTunes. In iTunes open the advance tab in the prefs and select importing on import convert using MP3 encoder then inby Dean - Café LA Re: What is best site to broadcast quicktime movie files? - 17 years agoTrial and error is your friend until you get it figured out. Take a segment of your movie maybe a 5 second clip and run different compressions movie sizes until you figure out what looks best with decent file sizes. This will save you a lot of time. There are 2 versions of Sorenson 3 a free version ( built into Quicktime) and a Pro version the pro version gives you things like variable bit ratesby Dean - Café LA Re: Compressor 2 is inferior - 17 years ago"how do we compress the movies for dvd release or internet display?" Most of my drives at this time are Western Digital and some are Seagates but my Lacie SATA drive is over a year old and works great.by Dean - Café LA Re: Cyborg DVD - up to 50,000 gig - 17 years agoAt first I thought that's a lot of coffee while 50,000 gigs compress and burn but maybe it will be a lot faster with proteins? Or maybe we wouldn't need any compression.by Dean - Café LA Re: Out of Memory????? - 17 years agoYou can buy ram cheap from third party vendors. Apple ram is quite expensive.by Dean - Café LA Re: Resetting G5 PMU - 17 years agoHave you recently added some hardware? Ram a video card? It sounds like something might not be seated properly. If you haven't added any internal hardware have you added something externally? Try unplugging all of it and see if your machine starts properly.
