Re: OT: Happy Thanksgiving everyone - 12 years agoAnd a belated Happy Thanksgiving from me as well. Enjoy cyber Monday. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: FCPX Feature Wish List - 12 years agoDesperately want a keyword editor for each event. Multiple events have a very diverse number of keywords and collections and with a choice of only 9 keywords that can be used with keyboard shortcuts, having to delete some from the editor just to make room for a new project/event is absurd. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: FCPX Feature Wish List - 12 years agoI'd like for each project to retain its own keyword editor. Since multiple projects are very likely to have very different keyword collections this has come up as an important needed feature. We are only permitted 9 keyword collections that can use keyboard shortcuts. For each event or project to retain its own keyword editor would be a boon. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: FCPX does this mean I can or can't use my Motion from FCP7 Studio? - 12 years agoExcellent tutorial. Is there a list of which templates in Motion 4 that are not included in Motion 5? Still not sure why the Motion 4 templates were not included in Motion 5's and while this tutorial is very helpful, it will be very time consuming to publish each part of each Motion 4 template from 4 to 5. I rarely use them but it still is irksome that Apple has downgraded everything. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: MTS file help needed - 12 years agoGot ClipWrap and it worked out beautifully...no generational loss and smooth playback. Problem solved and thanks for everyone's advice. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: MTS file help needed - 12 years agoHey Brad and Derek, Thanks for all your input, advice and offers to help. Installed ClipWrap which had some difficulties and sent a file over to them at their request. They sent me an updated ClipWrap 2.4.4b that worked just fine. Not sure if this version has even been released but ClipWrap did the job. Have to admit, I was surprised that MPEG Streamclip would not work with the MTS filesby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: MTS file help needed - 12 years agoWill do, and thanks again Derek. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: MTS file help needed - 12 years agoThanks Derek, I wasn't trying to import to FCP but simply to open what I saw on the desktop and then bring them onto an external drive . Never the less, I was surprised that MPEG Streamclip wouldn't open them, I always thought it was a miracle app. Will try Clipwrap. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA MTS file help needed - 12 years agoAn associate shot some footage with a small Sony AVCHD cam and a JVC 3D camcorder set to shoot in 2D. Both were shot to each cams own hard drive rather than an SSD card. I attached both cams, one at a time, and got the cams to mount on my MacBook Pro. Searching through what came up left me with a folder of MTS files that would not open either in QT or Mpeg Streamclip. Any suggestions for me othby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: FCP X Titles - 12 years agoWent back yesterday and applied the Pull Focus Text to a clip, added text to both the main and subtitle and rendered. Closed X after a couple hours of working with it and started it up this morning. This time, the subtitle was still there but the render was lost. Where the heck are these render files going? I can't tell which are which in the render files folder so I don't know if they are siby Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: OT: R.I.P. Steve Jobs - 12 years agoI've been thinking about the passing of Steve Jobs and how the world has reacted. I believe one reason that he was so revered is that here was a CEO big shot who did not take advantage of the general populace. Putting aside his genius and innovations for the moment, he was not caught stealing from the company, ripping off in some scandalous way his investors or double dealing with politicians. Yeby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: OT: R.I.P. Steve Jobs - 12 years agoKen S. just called me with the news. An incredibly unique visionary and person. Plenty of imitators but he was the real McCoy. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: FCP X Titles - 12 years agoGlad this was pointed out as I haven't messed with titles yet in X. Put a title on with a subtitle and it barely played. Rendered it which was very quick and it played fine. Closed X and waited 1/2 hour and opened it again. The render disappeared, the main title was still there but the subtitle was back to the 'subtitle' graphic. I am constantly discovering things that are screwed up in X.0.1by Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: The Final Cut Pro X Bug List - 12 years agoYou're right Walter; I momentarily forgot all the NDAs I have had to sign in the past, just not for Apple tho Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: where is the imported footage gone - 12 years agoGo to the hard drive where you have set FCX to store your clips. You should see a folder saying Final Cut Events. In that folder will be another folder with the name of your project. Open that folder and you will see some more folders. Your footage should be in the folder that says 'Transcoded Media'. Open that and you will see your clips.by Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: The Final Cut Pro X Bug List - 12 years agoIt is a fine political line for many beta testers. In order to really confirm this you would have to have those who made suggestions before its release actually come out and say what suggestions they made and which were ignored. I am sure that no one at Apple would admit to ignoring suggestions and requests so it would be up to the testers themselves to state that and that is something I have nby Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: The Final Cut Pro X Bug List - 12 years agoGeez, don't Apple's Final Cut engineers ever test their own work before releasing it?by Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: FCPX 10.0.1 is out - 12 years agoBig Pete, You are very correct that the Apple PR reps have made themselves invisible. In the past, it was a bit difficult to get ahold of them but eventually, also as a writer/editor, I was successful. However, with the release of X, I found it nigh impossible. With the contacts I did have, I either would not get a return answer or be pushed off to someone else with no results. Meanwhilby Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: The Final Cut Pro X Bug List - 12 years agoIt's not really a bug but I can't import video without importing the audio as well. I can deselect the audio but it is still there taking up HD space. Since most of my work is done underwater I really don't need countless hours of hearing me breathing and exhaling bubbles. I can go into the camera and exclude audio but I should have the option in FC and I don't. To me, that's a bug. My 1 year old, 12 core with 20 gigs ram and Nvidia FX4800 card is not ready to be traded in or trashed. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: FCP X Fade in/out - 12 years agoIn the video animation editor, try clicking on the small disclosure button of the opacity section on the upper right. Bring your cursor into the window and you will see two icons in the upper right and left. Click on them to drag them down and across to set the number of frames you want the fade up or down to last and you will have your fades set. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: Black Magic or AJA - 12 years agoI've been told that external monitoring will be included by early next year but only for Macs with Thunderbolt. If true, and I do not know if it is, that sucks big time. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA - X Re: FCPX 10.0.1 is out - 12 years agoIn San Diego, the update is still not there.
