sapphire hd7950 3G Mac Edition Graphics Card, Used 3 months, $325 - 9 years agoOriginally purchased mid-April 2014 from OWC for $460, I have the original box, driver install CD, cables, etc. Basically a brand new graphics card which works great if you have the proper hardware...MacPro models 4.1 and 5.1 (Early 2009 and newer). I purchased this card for my 3.1 MacPro even though it is not officially supported by the manufacturer. I do get a bit confused as to what codec to set the Motion Project. Here is my problem. I am having difficulty getting text to not look all "SD" when generated in Motion 4. I generate a project file in Motion and put it on the timeline as usual. But, the text looks crappy. I have to export a mov file...which is kinda weird. My FCP sequences are ProRes 422, 1080, 29.97. So, exporting mov files solved thby ponzzz - Café LA Re: Monitor Calibration, ProRes, and QT prefs - 13 years agoThanks Ben and D-Mac. I have my monitors' gamma calibrated to 2.2. I only use my Apple Cinema HD for color correcting as I can't get the Dell to properly calibrate. I can get it close but not spot on. Most of my deliverables are as either H.264, flash, or even swf. However, I work and export in ProRes and need to check these files prior to compression. I have very accurate color. I have a A Sony CRT broadcast monitor when I need broadcast calibrating. The Problem I am describing has to do with playing ProRes files in QT...I don't believe it has anything to do with my monitors. This is a recent problem so I didn't know if it was the calibration software, thby ponzzz - Café LA Monitor Calibration, ProRes, and QT prefs - 13 years agoI have been having a lot of problems with color reliability playing ProRes files in QT. I use a double monitor set-up for editing and calibrate the monitors with a Datacolor Spyder 3 Elite... 23" Apple Cinema HD 24" Dell 2408WFP I'm shooting video on a Canon 7d, compressing to ProRes in Compressor. When I play the ProRes files in QT (not in FCP) they look over-saturated and contby ponzzz - Café LA Re: Editing h.264 (1280 x 720) in FCP - 15 years agoI always convert from one disk to another...they are internal disks. Could that be an I/O thing...I have no idea. Other than that i don't know why the conversion would take so long. I have a new point & shoot (Canon SD 960IS) that shoots H.264 HD at 1280 x 720 30 fps. I have been able to do simple cuts and even lay text over the footage in a FCP timeline and then export it out as a h.264 QT movie. Motion filled up 90G of my HD and was still going when I forced quit. I'm trying to find a Dup house local to the SFV that is maybe not as expensive as Lightning Dubbs...50 DVDs, color printed label, mini-jewel cases, pretty straight forward. I usually burn my own but this is too many for me to deal with... Any suggestions? It is working for PAL and NTSC out. I've input VHS signal...its done everything its supposed to do. As the other posts have indicated it comes set up for NTSC. And you should be able to tell which direction its inputting from the lights on the front ( digital in or analog in). Two questions...does it matter where the bright and contrast are set initially? & do I follow the same instructions for setting my broadcast monitor for PAL? Since PAL has no Phase adj.... thanks in advance for the help... I needed to set up a sequence using the EasySet-up...10 bit PAL 48k. then I created a new sequence labelled it PAL...copied and pasted everything from the old ntsc sequence. Like I said, since I've never done this before I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing. When they told me to work in ntsc I was relieved not to have to figure out working in PAL. I guess that's not the case though, is it? I need to deliver the final product on PAL DigiBeta and am having Lightning Dubbs do the conversion for me. I've never had to deliver in PAL before so I have been asking the dub house a lot of questions: Since I don't have any footage to deal with I figured I would work in PAL. When I shoot out a QT the QT movie plays fine. But, this is really weird. I was going around in circles last night trying to figure out what was going on...trying playback on desktop only no firewire out, tossed FCP preferences, rebooted in safe mode, repaired permissions, ran tech tooby ponzzz - Café LA Re: Dropping a sequence into a sequence - 17 years agoI am having the same problem. I have a 1 hour 10 minute sequence that is made up of 12 shorter sequences. I have short Motion generated titles transitioning out of and into each sequence. The 12 nested seq's are on V1 and A1, A2, the Motion proj files are on V2 and overlap each of the nested. Really pretty straitforward.
