With a career spanning the last decade, Bartley Powers has been editor or a contributing editor on hundreds of hours of programming and content for television, film, and web. With Final Cut Pro and Avid as his primary tools, he strives to work on new material that allows him to collaborate, create dynamic visual media and tell compelling stories.
His credits in television are vast and include programming for FOX TELEVISION, PARAMOUNT, SONY PICTURES TELEVISION, TENNIS CHANNEL, CBS, ABC, A & E, LIONSGATE/TV GUIDE, REELZ CHANNEL, NFL NETWORK, LOGO, INDEPENDENT FILM CHANNEL and PBS. For web he has edited hours of content for AOL, including “First Tip” and the music series “Sessions @ AOL,” that was eventually broadcast by FUEL TV. He made editorial contributions on a documentary about graffiti artists for the ATARI GAMES video game “Marc Ecko’s Getting Up.” Bartley has also served as producer and editor on projects, including a number of making-of documentaries for PARAMOUNT and SONY PICTURES, among them several well received primary bonus features for the “Revolutionary Road” and “The Shield: The Final Season” DVDs, as well as numerous concept pitches and industrials for MATTEL, USTA, SONY, PARAMOUNT, LIVE 8 CONCERTS. He served as editor on a complex concept pitch for L’OREAL for commercial and feature film director Jim Sonzero, in which he coordinated delivery and receipt of assets for complex VFX and 3-D shots from Engine Room, motion graphics from Yu+Co, and created a pipeline that ensured timely completion. In addition, he's edited music videos for INTERSCOPE recording artists Black Tide and All American Rejects. This year has been exciting and marks a leap into the world of feature films. Bartley was a part of the talented editorial team on award-winning documentary BOB AND THE MONSTER, the story of charismatic singer/songwriter Bob Forrest, following his days as front man of the indie-rock band Thelonious Monster, through his life threatening struggle with addiction, to his triumph and transformation into one of the most influential drug and alcohol counselors. Currently, Bartley is editing promos for LOGO TV, INDEPENDENT FILM CHANNEL, and is completing ongoing work as lead editor on ITVS/PBS feature documentary EATING ALABAMA, a film about a couple from Alabama that discovers their home state to be a microcosm of national and global food issues, realizing how food connects us to a place, to community, to family, and to our own history.
Other notable highlights from Bartley’s career: he was a part of the editorial team that created a series of exceptional documentaries on photojournalists for the Pictures of the Year International and THE ANNENBERG FOUNDATION in their Space for Photography. He was editor and made significant creative contributions on NFL NETWORK’s series “Gameday Morning,” which earned an 2010 Emmy Nomination for outstanding sports programming. He also edited content for and worked with iconic television producer Ed. Weinberger, creator of "The Cosby Show" and "Taxi," an experience he considers one of his most memorable and influential.
With a proven and dependable track record, Bartley is versatile and adaptable in all editorial styles and formats. He continues to look for new projects that allow him to collaborate with talented people, to learn, to grow, and to tell stories about our world and the people in it.
