window burn in for QT movie

Hi,

Can someone tell me how to put the window burn in with timecode out of my timeline (FCP 5)? I'm exporting a QT movie.

Thanks!

there;s filters for this called Timecode Generator and Timecode Reader (in the "video" section of your video filters)

you cant just apply them to all the clips, tho - you'll get a different TC for each clip!

the simplest way is to make anew sequence, and drag you old one into it.
it appears as a nested sequence (read up on nesting)

apply the filter to the nested sequence.

OPION double click on the nest to open in the viewer to tweak the filter.

another approach is to lay some slug over your entire timeline, crop it, and add the filter to that

Nick.. instead of cropping slug.. I use a text generator - with no text! Whola... a transparent layer for efx generators!

Clever one Rick!

<<OPION double click on the nest to open in the viewer to tweak the filter.>>

I find it easier to just highlight the nest and then hit Return. But it's all the same. Just my 2¢.

A blank text layer. Definitely a good idea. Especially since the Timecode Reader would have to be rendered anyway. And you could turn it off and back on with one shortcut key (CONTROL-B). Superior to nesting, I think.
