If you have Photoshop you can convert the frames of the sequence to TARGA (TGA) or other picture sequence, by setting up a "batch process" (really simple - read link below) to automatically convert the files.

or

There are many free, shareware & commercial batch graphic conversion utilities which you can search for on Google.

Alternatively if you have Adobe After Effects you can import the TIFF Sequence and output a movie for FCP.

Hi.

Or launch Quicktime and import the image sequence.
Then export with the settings of your timeline.

Hi.
Yes export with the Animation Codec, on the settings choose "MILIONS OF COLORS+"

i think you'd have to export as a format that has an alpha channel.

i'm not a graphics person, so id only be guessing:
animation codec?
you CAN use the TIFFs directly:
open user prefs, go to "editing" tab, set "Still / Freeze duration to 1 frame.
import the stills. better yet, import the folder they are in.
drag to new timeline.
edit using that sequence as a nest.

this is normally not recommend as it;s a bit more taxing on the system.
but in your case it might be the best way.

Hi.

If a Compression Type like Animation shows on the Compressor area, where you find the Quality, the Depth Milions of Colors + this means that the + is the additional 8 bits of information that consists the Alpha Channel.
In another way to see it RGB is 8+8+8=24 bits (Colors)
RGB+Alpha 8+8+8+8=32 bit (Colors+Alpha)
