importing animation( tiff sequential)Posted by 247films
hi all,
i have a job where i was sent animation by tiff sequentially numbered frames. (0-299) avid will let you import this, but fcp won't. i am running fcp 5.04. also this is in hdv format. can anyone please help me to figure out how to do this??? i am on a tight deadline and i have to finish this weekend. thanks in advance!!!
If you have Photoshop you can convert the frames of the sequence to TARGA (TGA) or other picture sequence, by setting up a "batch process" (really simple - read link below) to automatically convert the files.
[www.creativemac.com] or There are many free, shareware & commercial batch graphic conversion utilities which you can search for on Google. Alternatively if you have Adobe After Effects you can import the TIFF Sequence and output a movie for FCP. i think you'd have to export as a format that has an alpha channel.
i'm not a graphics person, so id only be guessing: animation codec? you CAN use the TIFFs directly: open user prefs, go to "editing" tab, set "Still / Freeze duration to 1 frame. import the stills. better yet, import the folder they are in. drag to new timeline. edit using that sequence as a nest. this is normally not recommend as it;s a bit more taxing on the system. but in your case it might be the best way. nick
Hi.
If a Compression Type like Animation shows on the Compressor area, where you find the Quality, the Depth Milions of Colors + this means that the + is the additional 8 bits of information that consists the Alpha Channel. In another way to see it RGB is 8+8+8=24 bits (Colors) RGB+Alpha 8+8+8+8=32 bit (Colors+Alpha) Rui Barros Editor Colorist Trainer Lisbon, Portugal RTP Post-Production Apple Certified Trainer FCP 7 Apple Certified Pro FCP 7
