16:9 in 4:3 sequencePosted by Tony19
Don't use crop. If you need to move the image up and down, or use a different letterbox size, it's a pain in the ass to change anything. Make the black letterbox bars in Photoshop or use a combination of a black colour matte and a Mask Shape in FCP. Or, nest the sequence after editing and crop that or apply a Widescreen Matte filter. This topic has been covered many times in the forum.
i recently mixed some old dv stuff and some hdv stuff in a 4:3 dv timeline but first i took all the 4:3 and applied the widescreen filter..it turned out nicely but i hate mixing the 2 because in my opinion all my hdv stuff looks much better even downconverted when compared to my dv stuff
