FCP 5.0.4 -5.1 Compatibility?

I'm running FCP 5.0.4, and attempting to open a project created in FCP 5.1, I'm getting an error that the project is created using newer software. Is my only option to upgrade my system to 5.1?? Any advice would be great.

Yep. 5.1 is not compatible with 5.0.4

The best you can do is export an XML of the sequence and open that with FCP 5.0.4.

I have this vision of you explaining to your client that you now have to send in your disks and wait two weeks for the software update to arrive.

If you were not at the NAB "Super Meet" Paul Sacone of Apple said it was OK to make copies of your Final Cut Studio disks for back up should you need them while your disks were in transition to and fro from Apple, should anything go wrong.
