Easy way to cut in old version?

Am I missing something? In avid, if I had a section subclipped in a bin of an alt/old version of a scene or part of a scene, I would just load it in the source bin and mark my ins and outs or remove the old version and then cut in the new. With FCP I get something that is tied to/named for the subclip the instead of the original clips. Is there a way to make it work like avid?

To edit from a sequence to a sequence, load the source sequence into the viewer and hit command-insert/overwrite. That will give you the avid-like behaviour you are after.
