Is it possible that using a PC moniter with my Mac computer and FCP program will make the FCP program crash, fail to operate properly?

nope. a monitor is a monitor.

Macs do maintain a very small conversation with the monitor and that's how they know what "native" resolution and colorspace is. I've never known that conversation to fail and take out the computer, however.

It's possible to have gross electrical errors and create enormous damage--bad electrical power or monitor internal power supplies, bad or mis-wired ground connection in the wall power, etc. You can get into very serious trouble with problems like that.

Well...here's a ton of folks using Dell monitors on their Macs & nobody's crashed because of it. That's a big fat NO.

Dell just came out with a beefed up version of their popular 24" widescreen LCD monitor with all the inputs, the 2407WFP-HC. Price is pretty good too.
