I finished editing a video and now I found myself that I have no idea of how to do it in 16:9, it's my first time. I tryed different settings and the image gets distorted (it's wider, like twice 16:9)- I also tryed puting all my secuence on a new "anamorphic" secuence and it's the same results... Please help! After hours of work I don't want to re do everything again. I captrured with the anamorphic setting as well, if this info helps.
If your footage was shot in anamorphic 16:9, it shouldn't look "wider"; it should look "taller". And if it was captured right, FCP should be able to display it correctly for you. Try posting a clip or screen capture of what it looks like, and screen captures of your capture settings and clip/Sequence settings as well.
My preliminary hunch might be that your footage isn't anamorphic; it's letterboxed in-camera. By capturing non-anamorphic footage with an anamorphic flag, FCP would squash it wrong for you. Here's the FAQ topic on anamorphic 16:9: [www.lafcpug.org] www.derekmok.com
