Pal to Ntsc for editPosted by J.Corbett
What do i need to change in-order to place pal footage in a ntsc tl ?
Will the process bother quality? i did a search 3 pages of pal post but no pal to ntsc. mostly ntsc to pal. Kinda weird that its not there. "no pal to ntsc. mostly ntsc to pal"
it's the same. the biggest thing to get around is the difference in frame rates. fcp will do a very simplistic version (drop/repeat frames) compressor or Nattress will do better. if sync is not an issue, open the files on Cinema Tools, and "Conform" tehm to the new frame rate. 25 to 29.97 would speed up the footage quite a bitt. 25 to 23.98 would not be too noticeable, then you can convert somehow to 29.97 (dont ask me how, i live in PAL land) nick
the cinema tools "conform" should be instantaneous.
(i cant comment on the pulldown process) it's my understanding that: compressor will give the best results when everything is set to "best" this will be slightly better than Nattress but take a LOT longer. Nattress is very god quality with respectable render times. Hardware would probably be the best quality, but yes there is a cost involved. cheers, nick
