Possible to NOT monitor audio when capturing HDV?

Do any of y'all know if it's possible to set Final Cut NOT to monitor audio when capturing HDV over Firewire? The normal "preview" checkbox is missing from the Firewire-style log-and-capture window.

I've gotta spend half my day today didging tapes shot over the holiday, and since Final Cut is "helpfully" previewing audio for me, I can't even use the time to catch up on the fxphd classes on which I'm shamefully, humiliatingly behind.

I came up with an answer of sorts to my own question.

I downloaded the free trial of Audio Hijack Pro, and set it up to "hijack" the audio output from Final Cut Pro. I didn't bother recording it, just muted it, and I was able to continue working (i.e., watching youtubes) while I captured.

I don't love it, because putting third-party stuff on my edit system gives me hives, but it worked.
