Digibeta question

Hi All

Is there a difference in image quality between the following two methods of getting my movie to digibeta:

1 - exporting a quicktime to hard drive, bringing to post house - quicktime to digibeta
2 - bringing the project file and media to post house, opening in FCP and having them edit directly from the timeline to digibeta?

Thanks in advance
SA

It depends on the project but in general if you output 10-bit uncompressed or even ProRes HQ from your timeline to a hard drive, it will look as good as it can going out to Digibeta.

Just use the movie file. Much less hassle. If you can afford the effort then bring the project file and media as a safeguard, but make sure you have them backed up. And a project file with raw media tends to be less reliable than a QCed, self-contained movie file.

Export a SCQT. Use that to export. That's pretty much the best quality you can get out of your footage. AND bring along your media and project file, as a safeguard.

This is because if you bring along just the media and the project file and hope to export that to tape, there could be issues eg. reconnection of render files, missing plug-ins, missing fonts, etc. All these will add to your costs.
