iTunes - Reconnect?

iTunes - Reconnect?

Anyone know how to make iTunes "reconnect" to my 60gigs of SFX that got transfered to a new drive?

I have a nasty feeling that this isn't possible...but any iTunes experts out there?

We all complain about FCP's media manager but at least it has one.

Many Thanks,

I would just create a new iTunes playlist and drag the entire SFX library into it.

When life gives you dilemmas...make dilemmanade.

Touché.
I don't think it's possible in iTunes either.
I've "fooled" iTunes before by using a backed-up library file to replace the current one, but I don't think it can reconnect.

I hated iTunes 8 the nanosecond I'd laid my eyes on it. Which is why I'm still running my backed-up iTunes 7.6.2.

Nope...I did this myself. Tried to reconnect and said, "SCREW IT!" I reimported from the new location and organized again. And don't let iTunes organize for you...DUPLICATIONS GALORE!

Second that. And iTunes' own file system sucks testicles.

Eww...I think saying "sucks testicles" is a tad worse than saying "sucks balls."

That was the idea.

iTunes reconnect is definitely retarded.
no search, and ONE file at a time... yoiks!

as mentioned, you have to drag the lot back in,
but make sure you turn off "copy to library" and "organise" in preferences.
bummer is you lose your original "date added" metadata.

It's even possible that you could lose track names, artist names, album names, the whole shebang, unless the import was done correctly at the first stage.

Always complete all the metadata when the CD is first in, and before the file conversion. If you do it before the file conversion, then the metadata gets saved in the file and can be accessed even across platforms (PC/Mac) and applications (eg. Avid).

If you do it after the files are converted, only that particular iTunes library file will remember the metadata, and even if you re-import the exact same files, a file called "Stairway to Heaven" in OS could import as "Track 4".

That's why I mentioned male anatomy.
