Brightening Video

Brightening Video

Perhaps a year ago, I found a tutorial to brighten underexposed video. I think I found it on this site. My best recollection was that it involved stacking the identical clip, and reducing the opacity in Motion. It worked great. I seem to have forgotten some critical step, however, and have been unable to find that tutorial again with the search feature.

Could anyone point me back to it or remind me of what I have forgotten?

In FCP, you can duplicate the clip, drop the screen mode on the top layer and reduce the opacity. . But of course, if you get it to after effects, set your project working space to linear, and add is the new screen.

Alternatively, in FCP, drop in a three way color corrector, push up the midtones, and up the saturation to compensate, and adjust the shadows and highlights accordingly.

Drop us a still if you can.

That's the one I did a year ago. I brightened the footage at about 29 seconds, and I think maybe that at about 20 sec. I'll post the new one when I get it done.

Thanks strypes.
