Final Cut Pro 7.03 XML for entire project?

Hi,

I would like to import my entire final cut pro 7 project (20 bins, 10 sequences, 300+ clips) to Premiere CS5.It is very important that the structure that I have setup be maintained (bins, sequences and the clips within them) About two months a ago, I did this without a hitch..

This time I can't seem to get more than 1 bin and 1 sequence to export from FCP. I checked the master clips, but still 1 bin, 1 sequence.

Help would be greatly appreciated

Joe,

In FCP, make your Browser window active and make sure nothing is selected (shift-command-A). Then, do an export to XML. In the export dialog window, the number of items being exported should be summarized at the top.

Thank you Dave, that did it!

I have been trying to figure this out for two days now, tried multiple forums but no luck, looks like LAFCPUG is where the pros are!

Alternatively you can select everything and export (apple A).

As Dave said the export dialog will reflect what will be exported. So if this summary is correct everything should work fine.
You can open the XML in a text editor and search for your missing bins, sequences etc. if they are not there there is a problem with the export, if they do exist there is problem with CS5.
Try to export as version 4 XML -- there weren't too many changes between 4 and 5.

Exporting XML with nothing selected will export the project as a folder with the items of this project. Selecting all items in the browser and do the export then will create a 'bunch' of items which might be confusing if you import this XML into something else where already items exist.

Interesting. I never knew there was a difference between the two.
