Macbook Pro circa 2008 black screen NVidea problem.

I have a Mac book Pro, the screen has ceased to light up when turned on. From what I can gather this is down to a graphics card defect (NVidea) with machines built around 2008.
This is a scarey scenario, I've had this machine for 3 years. No clues. Cheers Phil

Bring it for servicing. It is a known issue and Apple will repair/replace the card even if it is out of warranty. There is an Apple doc on it.

Your video card is dead. Mine was replaced within Applecare and they told me I was lucky mine died during Applecare or it would have cost me $1000 to fix. Sorry Phil...you may want to try to replace it yourself or try a non-Apple store repair facility - will save you a few hundred bucks...

It is a known issue. Free to fix no matter how old the computer. Happened to me. Freaked me out

No time limit on it? That must have been announced after I went in for mine over a year ago. GREAT NEWS FOR YOU PHIL!!

They've re-worded it. 4 years from original date of purchase. But you're still good on it.
