k key not stopping

so, suddenly my k key is not stopping playback. using fcp 6.06. tried
typing the k key into text editor and works fine. tried trashing prefs
but that didn't solve it. any ideas?

Press OPTION-H (Keyboard Layout) and check to make sure you didn't reset FCP's shortcuts by mistake.

that's weird.
trashing prefs should have re-set the keyboard to defaults,

try assigning the transport controls to some other keys, (rather than JKL, i prefer 456 on the number pad, myself)
see if they work there.

also try mapping something else to K, (something simple and obvious, like add marker)
see if that works

thanks for the replies. it's working now. in the process of debugging this i did
try resetting the key commands with no luck. as it turned out, a system restart
seems to have cleared the issue. makes me wonder if something in this system
is starting to go flaky.
