Sound sync after Maverick FC7Posted by Douglas Villalba
I have a few seconds delay on sound after the Maverick update.
Has anyone else has this problem? Any tips to fix it? Hi Doug
Sound delay on FCP 7 but via the Decklink HD Extreme to what output? Have you updated all your drivers including decklink? [www.blackmagicdesign.com] Have you set the output correctly via the HD Extreme? Are you going HDMI Video and Audio via another route? If so you can't do this as HDMI introduces a "processing lag" and you will need to monitor the sound from the HDMI device not the Decklink. It is the same on the Kona 3G. Have you calibrated the lag in your output and set the frame offset? Thanks for the reply Ben.
I have the original HD Extreme before HDMI. I have the latest driver and go out both SDI to a monitor and Component to a 42" LED. Both have a delay of about 3 second to the sound out of the Decklink. The sound out the computer is almost perfect. Where do I adjust the frame offset? Blimey! 3 seconds!!! You can try the offset but I've never had such a large delay before. The Apple documentation links I put above describe how set the offset.
Alternatively here's a simple explanation from our friendly neighbourhood Jordan via the magic of internet video! [youtu.be] Let us know how you get on, but I fear a call to Blackmagic support might be in order; as the most I've encountered over a long distance was 12 frames. Thanks again Ben.
I wrote to Blackmagic this morning and to my surprise the email be back in less than an hour. They have a new driver. I installed it and everything is back to normal. Thanks Blackmagic Design for the quick response and solution. God Bless, Douglas Villalba director/cinematographer/editor Miami, Florida [www.DouglasVillalba.info] [www.youtube.com] [vimeo.com]
Ok thats brilliant - any other issues let us know!

Weirdly I have just developed this same bug! I know have a 1 second and perhaps 1 frame delay on just the HDMI audio!!!
Annoying! Perhaps something to do with the new Quicktime/AV Foundations? Dunno - will ask around. Tried downgrading the BM Drivers but nothing. Signed Annoyed of edit suite For instant answers to more than one hundred common FCP questions, check out the LAFCPUG FAQ Wiki here : [www.lafcpug.org]
