White Flash Transition effect help

I'm editing in FCP HD and I need to make a transition of a sudden white flash. I need it for maybe 3 or 4 seconds....how do I do this? Or what effect do use for this effect?

Dip to Color Dissolve works, but I usually do it by placing a white colour matte above the cut. Now you have unlimited control over how long the white lasts, how full the white is (some people like to see some "shadow" of the image rather than complete white), how fast the fade comes in, and how fast the fade goes out.

Try Flash Frame (free plugin) from [mattias.nu] if you want a canned solution (has lots of adjustments). Derek's suggestions give you lots of things to try.

I'm using the Nattress GFilm flash effect, works great as a transition.

I'm also using Nattress GFilm Flash effect... dig it!

I also use Natress GFilm Flash effect... It works!

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions...i don't have the Natress GFilm Flash effect, at least i don't think so but i ended up using the Dip to Color transition and that works for me!
