Here's a couple of feature requests I just posted to Apple's FCP feedback page, prompted by a post over on the Apple Discussions .... let me know what you think. Useless bloat or worthwhile features?

1) A NEW PLAYHEAD SYNC MODE: GANG TRACK

Place the playhead where you want to see both tracks and then choose View menu > Playhead Sync > Gang Track
Now, as you move the playhead in the canvas/timeline the image in the Viewer will be updated to show the equivalent frame from the ganged track. This ganged track would be targeted by the track's Auto Select status.

It ought to be easy to extend the Gang to work in this manner ie at a track level, by simply treating the targeted track as a virtual nested clip

2) A NEW TOOL WINDOW: QUICKTAKE

Invoking the QuickTake window would display a single window ( in a switchable 2/4/9/16 up etc display mode) showing all the clips at the current playhead position similar to a MultiClip view. Similar to the Multiclip functionality, in the QuickTake window, clicking on the clip you want, or using a keyboard shortcut to switch, would set the selected clip as the active one. Using this function would toggle the Clip Enable/Disable Status accordingly for all targeted clips, enabling only the selected clip and disabling all others. Clips on tracks not targeted by Auto Select would not be referenced and/or affected by this mode.
Sorry, you do not have permission to post/reply in this forum.
