Do external DVD burners work as well with DVDSP2 and the internal?
Is/Are there models that work- or work better than others?
Thank you

Hi Craig,

I know a number of people including myself who use an external DVD burner with SP 2, and before with SP 1.5.

Yes, they do work well. Get a copy of Toast.

Just out of curiosity, why the copy of toast?

Hi Alex,

Ram cache and under run buffer.

Toast has always done a great job burning, I think that it is better than using the Finder.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi Ken,
Thank you for answering. Would it be best to use the brand that Apple puts in their machines?

Craig,

All G 4s have the Pioneer DVD burners. The G 5s might be shipping with Sony burners.

Alex,

Use Toast to copy DVD's once you have built and formated the first one. From that time on open up Toast to Other and select DVD. Drag the Video_TS and Audio_TS folders into the Toast window and insert DVD-R blank, click Record.

Hope that is what you were asking.

You could always create the first copy as an IMG file with build and format, and then simply use Disc Copy to create multiple copies there after with the IMG file. I think Ken nailed it though. You get the benefit of slightly less prone to error burn.

Do you know if the Pioneer A06 U has any compatibility issues with SP2. It is an internal drive and its predesessor is listed but not this latest model.
