Importing vector graphics from Illustrator

Posted by Jamie Kelley
I'd like to create a vectored text graphic in Illustrator, import and use it in a Motion clip.

When I create a Motion project with a transparent background, import the vectored text graphic and add some particles, it looks just fine in the Motion canvas. It also looks transparent. However when I export it uncompressed as a QT movie to put into FCP, the entire clip now has a black background.

Question: how do I keep the transparent settings or rather, why does a black background appear?

Thanks.......

First, don't export from Motion - just bring the Motion project file into FCP.

But if you must export a movie, make sure that your background is set to 0% opacity in the project properties, and make sure your export settings includes the alpha channel - there is a preset for this.

That did it. Thanks Mark
