C A M E R A Position and Movement

When i add a camera it is already at the back of the room. If i start editing with forward movement in mind i have 100 - 0 to use as my forward movement. I can back up endlessly it seems (6000+).

How do i default the camera to be the at center of the room?

What is the size of the room?

Also, I have been trying to get a camera and light to move across a diameter from left to write. I assume that the 3d space is based on a sphere much like kinemac.

With that said, What is the formula or how do i create a smooth extra steady horizontal cam path?

Cameras are created with their focal plane at 0,0,0. You can change the camera's location in the Inspector.

The 3D space is infinite.

The easiest way to get smooth camera movements is to use the camera behaviors.

An interesting note about Motion is that is follows the
left handed rule and not right handed rule for cartesian coordinates.

In 3ds Max (as I will use as my "control"winking smiley y is into and out of the
screen and z is up and down; whilst this is reversed in Motion 3.

I constantly have to convert my z and y in my head as I am so used
to the right handed rule as "cemented in place" by Autodesk 3ds Max.

p.s I wish Apple would sell a Microsoft port of Motion 3; it makes a great
addition to a true 3d modelling package
