Click HERE to register now FCPX Not Reading P2 Files - 11 years agoSorry, I posted this below and it should have been "NEW TOPIC". -------- I am using: FCPX v.10.0.7 & purchased a Panasonic HPX 255 camera recently. Loaded P2 video files using a P2 reader (by Panasonic) on a Buffalo 1 TB External Hard Drive. It has Thunderbolt. FCPX does not read the P2 files that have loaded on the external hard drive. What am I doing that I shoulby Don B. - Café LA - X 2nd External Hard Drive Not Recognized using P2 files and FCPX - 11 years agoI have a new Panasonic HPX255P camera (P2 files) and have a Buffalo 1TB Thunderbolt External Hard Drive. Also have a MacBookPro. The external hard drive either has to be formatted for PC to transfer the camera P2 files to be offloaded to the hard drive. I can not offload the P2 files from the external hard drive to the Mac as the external hard drive has to be formatted to the Mac. Does anyoneby Don B. - Café LA - X FCPX and Panasonic P2 Camera - 11 years agoI am seriously looking at the Panasonic AG-APX500 camera to use with FCPX. That camera uses the Panasonic P2 recording media. Checked Apple's list of cameras that will work with FCPX. That camera is not on it. I cannot imagine that P2 camera will not work with FCPX. One of the cameras I am considering is the Panasonic P2 camera. 1) Is there anyone out there that has experience using them? -or- 2) Can you direct me to a camera forum website that has videographers' real world experience using these cameras ( or any other brand )? I a show open for my garden show and have 16 tracks of video in it and wondered whether or not I should have nested the tracks or not and if this would save drive space. Evidently not. It seems the people who have answered my question are not big fans of nesting. / Don B.by Don B. - Café LA Nesting Clips - 14 years agoI read the Wiki on Nesting Clips. It mentioned that can be used for episodic opens, etc. What I have been doing instead and when I make a show open with multiple video tracks I will save it and then export it to Quicktime and make a Quicktime file of it. Should I nest the file instead? Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press Restart Button". Why is this doing this? It will not let me Mixdown? Problem is I HAVE LOST MY TIMELINE. >When I go to the menu and click on 'window' the Timeline is checked. I click on it and the Timeline does not appear! >When I click on file menu and click on New Project in the past a new project has appeared. This time that does not happen either. >When I click on 'Autoby Don B. - Café LA Re: multi-clip syncing - 15 years agoThanks Andrew / I know exactly what I did and didn't do....I accidently used a "m" "marker" to make an In-point rather than a "I" for an In-point. It has been awhile since I have used this and I forgot how. As a famous TV anchor once said,"I have egg on my face and all over my clothes". Thanks / Don B.by Don B. - Café LA multi-clip syncing - 15 years agoI have FCP#5 and I attempting to do multi-clip editing. I am having trouble syncing up the 3 clips. I mark my in points that I have made in production with a flash gun. I put a marker on each clip at the precise point where the flash goes off. I highlight all 3 clips then control click on "make muli-clip". In the window that comes up I choose "In-Points". Click o-k. I am working on a very important project and poof my Timeline vanished. I clicked on the Windows menu and still it does not appear. It is checked on the menu. Still no Timeline. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME. I am using DVD Studio1 and have a question with putting 3 half hour programs I edited on FCP5. The project files were converted to Quick Time. Is this putting too much content on a single SD DVD? When I watch the Disc Meter it doens't seem to "move" at all. Since since is taking so much time and need this to be burned ona DVDby Don B. - DVD Studio Pro making a self contained movie - 16 years agoI have FCP 5 and use SD. Just want to make sure I have my head on right before I make a wrong move that I can not change so it this seems a dumb question forgive me.... I am making 30 minute TV programs for a local cable channel. Have a lot of capture scratch files But have eliminated most of the auto-save vault files I did not need. Not too keen on using the File Manager right now. Wantby Don B. - Café LA window burn filter - 16 years agoI have FCP 5 and am editing a 30 min. program. I want to use the Window Burn Filter but am hesitant. I have one segment that is a multi-clip segment. I want to be able to take the window burn off. How do I do this all of this? Just finished a half hour program for cable and want to make a DVD from FCP-5. Do I understand this correctly....for SD...... Convert FCP into a QuickTime File then from there go to Compressor. Then go from Compressor to DVD Studio Pro. Do I have the basic flow correct? I have graphics from Apple Motion through out the program. I now use FCP5. Can I and run it through Broadcast Safe and check video or will this present more problems than I am aware of? I want to ask BEFORE I waste time.
