Click HERE to register now Limit Effect in Color Corrector 3-Way won't select Chroma in FCP7 - 8 years agoI'm trying to use the eyedropper in the "Limit Effect" section of the CC 3-way filter to select a color in my shot (there's some redness I'm trying to tone down), but it won't let me select anything on the Chroma scale. Even if I have the box checked for that and unchecked for Saturation and Luma, when I try to select the color in the shot with the eyedropper, FCP automatically unchecksby radam04 - Café LA How can I add dissolves back in on FCP7 after getting the film back from my colorist? - 8 years agoHi there, I'm finishing up a feature that seems to have hit one final snag. My colorist instructed me to not include dissolves or handles when exporting the film from FCP7 so they could color it (in DaVinci Resolve), and my assumption was I would just add the dissolves back in, but now I see that that must have been a mistake, because when I try to add a cross dissolve it says "insufficiby radam04 - Café LA Re: Changing aspect ratio to 100% of source when exporting for DVD in Compressor - 9 years agoThanks for the advice! Padding was the way to go, and yeah, there was an option to "preserve aspect ratio" which was simple. Cool, I never knew about that, it's a huge help. Thanks again!by radam04 - Café LA Changing aspect ratio to 100% of source when exporting for DVD in Compressor - 9 years agoHi, Sorry if this isn't the place to post this, I couldn't seem to post anywhere else. But I've looked around and haven't been able to find an answer to this problem that has come up regularly and I've never been able to figure out. When I export in Compressor using DVD settings (Best Quality: 90 minutes), it makes the aspect ratio 16:9 instead of 100% of the source. I exported the film frby radam04 - Café LA Re: Internal hard drive question - 11 years agoI have a similar problem, using FCP 6.0.6. My scratch disks and other system settings are all set to an external hard drive, but when I render files, my internal fills up. Is this a bug in this version or something?by radam04 - Café LA Re: "Error: Out of Memory" message after De-Interlacing - 12 years agoGotcha, thanks. I'm sending the 8-bit version, hopefully that works. Thanks for the suggestions!by radam04 - Café LA Re: "Error: Out of Memory" message after De-Interlacing - 12 years agoWhat do you mean "after your done with it?" Just to clarify. I figured out a way around the rendering error: I just de-interlaced and rendered each clip individually. But, I still get the same "Error: Out of Memory" message when I try to export an uncompressed QT file. There's even an error when I try to export it, with "Uncompressed 10-bit" settings, through Compby radam04 - Café LA Re: "Error: Out of Memory" message after De-Interlacing - 12 years agoOkay, I think I've figured out the exact issue. I created a new sequence, figured out how to keep it locked to the same specifications (i.e. aspect ratio, frame rate, etc.), and brought the sequence in. I was able to de-interlace and render fine. And then I noticed that in the Video Processing tab in Settings, there was one difference between the original sequence that the post-production facby radam04 - Café LA Re: "Error: Out of Memory" message after De-Interlacing - 12 years agoI wanted to add a little to my initial post. I tried to create a new sequence from scratch and drag the clips into it, but it doesn't seem to work the way it did for my last problem (http://www.lafcpug.org/phorum/read.php?1,274019,274019#msg-274019). When I just created a new sequence and dragged the clips into it, without first altering anything, it would de-interlace and render fine, but tby radam04 - Café LA "Error: Out of Memory" message after De-Interlacing - 12 years agoI'm trying to export an uncompressed qt file from my FCP 6.0.6, but it's coming out with those horizontal lines that de-interlacing fixes. So, when I try to de-interlace it and then render the sequence or export it, in both cases it comes up with an "Error: Out of Memory" message. It does not do this if I don't de-interlace it-- it will export or render fine. I removed some gigs from thby radam04 - Café LA Re: Get "Not enough space" when I try to render, no matter what - 12 years agoGreat, thanks for the suggestions. I created a brand new project file and brought the clips into that, and it seems to be working fine now. Fingers crossed, thanks again!by radam04 - Café LA Get "Not enough space" when I try to render, no matter what - 12 years agoWhenever I try to render something in my FCP ver. 6.0.6, even as small as a 20 second clip with no effects, I get the "Insufficient disk space-- free up space with Render Manager and retry?" box. But, the Render Manager doesn't even have more than a couple hundred MB in it. And when I try to get rid of that small amount, it won't. It just keeps saying there's insufficient space and won'by radam04 - Café LA Re: clips not importing from HVX - 13 years agoI installed it but couldn't figure out how to export it specifically as a QT file. I could export it, but it seemed to just stay in the format, and I couldn't import it when in FCP.by radam04 - Café LA Re: clips not importing from HVX - 13 years agoOk, that didn't work either. Do I have any other options? This makes no senseby radam04 - Café LA Re: clips not importing from HVX - 13 years agoOhhhh, I see what you mean now, within the Log & Transfer window. I've unchecked "Remove pulldown" and am transferring it now. Fingers crossed...by radam04 - Café LA Re: clips not importing from HVX - 13 years agoOh, and thanks for that suggestion, Shane.by radam04 - Café LA Re: clips not importing from HVX - 13 years agoFor some reason my FCP (which is the version 6.0.6) doesn't have the P2 or Panasonic option on the Import menu. I'd seen that elsewhere online and don't know why I don't have it. What I'm trying now is just offloading the P2 cards onto my harddrive instead of directly importing them. Not sure how to import them into FCP from my HD, but we'll seeby radam04 - Café LA Re: clips not importing from HVX - 13 years agoOk, yes, the clip is still not exporting. I still get the "Error: Unknown" after it spends 20-30 minutes transferring. Does anyone have any ideas? Time is a factor, so I really appreciate any help.by radam04 - Café LA Re: clips not importing from HVX - 13 years agoOh, hold on. I just examined the P2 deck on the HVX and saw that one card wasn't pushed in all the way. This has gotta be the problem. When I went back into FCP, the clip now showed up as one long clip, instead of being chopped up. I'm transferring it now. If I still have problems I will post, but as of now, just chalk this up to general idiocy.by radam04 - Café LA clips not importing from HVX - 13 years agoI'm trying to import this long clip from my HVX into FCP ver 6. I'm using "Log and Transfer," and the firewire port on the camera, not any P2 deck. FCP has broken up the long clip into 4 shorter ones which I can view in the preview window. The last one imported successfully, but the other three say "Error: Unknown" after I drag them into the queue and it seemingly completeby radam04 - Café LA Re: different highlight colors for customized button in menu - 14 years agoJust to clarify, I'm curious as to how I can assign different images for the same button depending on the function (highlighted, selected, etc.), if that's the way to go about this. Ok, thanksby radam04 - DVD Studio Pro different highlight colors for customized button in menu - 14 years agoI imported my own text (actually, handwritten in photoshop so it's technically an image) that I'd like to use as the button text for the menu of my DVD, but I can't figure out how to get my custom buttons to change colors when highlighted or selected. Can Studio Pro do that on it's own, or do I need to create separate files of my image in different colors, and import those as well? And if I needby radam04 - DVD Studio Pro Re: should i delete my render files and re-render to free up disk space? - 14 years agoThank you both very much, i know it was really careless of me. but toggling of the tracks on and off worked, so everything is alright. i appreciate those tips for the future too, derek, thanks!by radam04 - Café LA Re: should i delete my render files and re-render to free up disk space? - 14 years agook, i just did something accidentally that has provided some insight. i cut the Color Correction settings out of one of the messed up clips, and suddenly it was fine (albeit without C.C.). and when i pasted the settings back in the clip, it was back to the way it should be. so this isn't the end of the world, apparently, but it still will take forever to do, so if anyone has a better idea than reby radam04 - Café LA Re: should i delete my render files and re-render to free up disk space? - 14 years agoby the way, i just want to add that i didn't put any files in that Render folder, it seems like it was all something FCP did on its own.by radam04 - Café LA Re: should i delete my render files and re-render to free up disk space? - 14 years agoi thought i'd add to this post instead of create a new one since it's related. i needed to free up space and my "Additional Render Files" folder in my render manager was at like 12 GB, which seemed really large. but i was in a bit of a rush, and i checkmarked that folder to be cleaned out. and now it's completely ruined the video on 80% of my film. instead of showing the picture it sby radam04 - Café LA Re: exporting 16:9 still image and keeping true aspect ratio - 14 years agook, yeah i figured out how to do it in photoshop. thanks, i appreciate itby radam04 - Café LA Re: should i delete my render files and re-render to free up disk space? - 14 years agook, i did, and everything went fine. thanks!by radam04 - Café LA Re: should i delete my render files and re-render to free up disk space? - 14 years agojust to make sure, can i COMPLETELY clear out my render files and start over? would that free up space? or would it be a disaster where my whole movie is lost? it's one of those buttons i'm afraid to push.by radam04 - Café LA Re: should i delete my render files and re-render to free up disk space? - 14 years agoOh ok, I found the Render Manager and used that.
